Cerro do Malpique is a public park with an area of ​​4600m2, located in the city of Albufeira (Portugal), with five requalified intervention areas: an area adjacent to the road axis, at a higher level; A central square located at an intermediate level, connected to the leisure space adjacent to the road axis by a wooden staircase; An inclusive playground, located in the pedestrian zone between the campsite (to the north) and the old part of the city (to the south); And two areas of multigenerational and crossfit equipment.

The objectives of this requalification were mainly to create a continuous green area, linked to the main green structure of the municipality, promoting mobility and accessibility, with multifunctional and differentiated public spaces equipped with support infrastructures that guarantee its smooth operation and easy maintenance.

For this project Play Planet has developed an inclusive playground with the sea theme, allusive to Albufeira´s beautiful beaches and wide coast, for which we conceived several equipment’s offering physical, social, communication, cognitive and sensorial stimuli, such as the “Jaime Filipe Secret Whelk” (Ref.ª A15TO001), a giant whelk with inner seclusion space and interactive audio and smell system operated by kinetic energy, and the friendly couple of dolphins “Dancing Dolphins” (Ref. P14TO03), for cognitive stimulation and free play.

For the Central Square, we designed an original seating area with 10 sculptural chairs “Genius Glow” (Ref. S15PIA06G) with integrated LED lighting, producing a “night glow” effect.
